A 22-year-old tattoo artist, Dedrick Devonshay Williams, aka Tattoman Chuckie, has been arrested in connection with the murder of rapper, XXXTentacion.

The local tattoo artist was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Broward County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Gina Carter confirmed the arrest.

Carter said, “Homicide detectives arrested Dedrick Devonshay Williams, 22, for the murder of Jahseh Onfroy in Pompano Beach shortly before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.”

DAILY POST recalls that the 20-year-old rapper was shot and killed outside a motorsports store in Deerfield Beach, Fla, on Monday afternoon after two armed suspects approached him.

”At least one of the suspects fired a gun and struck the rapper before fleeing in a dark-colored S.U.V. Mr. Onfroy was transported to a local hospital. Just after 5:30 p.m., the authorities said that he had been pronounced dead.

APC National Convention: Full text of Buhari’s speech

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday addressed delegates at the All Progressives Congress, APC, National convention in Abuja.

Buhari appealed to aggrieved members nationwide to keep faith with the party.

The President, however, told the 6,800 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), that crisis in some chapters was a price the party was paying for its electoral victory in 2015.

”It is my pleasure to address you today, on the occasion of our great party’s 2nd National Convention and the first since we rode on its glorious platform to a victorious political outing in 2015. Congratulations again to all who worked or contributed to our success.

”I want to begin by acknowledging your presence and congratulating all our delegates who have emerged from the wards, local Governments and State congresses from the 36 States of the Federation and the FCT gathered here today as the party’s highest ranking constitutional organ, to elect and usher in a new leadership for the party at the national level.

”I am also using this opportunity to thank the outgoing National Executives of the party, especially those who will not be offering themselves for re-election at today’s convention for their tireless efforts in securing victory for the party at the last elections and managing the success thereafter.

”I want to assure everyone here that despite a few lingering issues with the congresses in some states, our great party will emerge stronger after this convention. The unresolved cases we have is the price we have to pay for success, as everyone wants to be associated with a winning team. I am imploring all those with grievances to keep faith with the party until we put things right.

”I have been following the preparations leading to this event and I must commend this Convention Committee under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Badaru Abubakar for providing a level playing field and instilling confidence in both aspirants and delegates with their thorough approach and adherence to transparency.

”I commend all the delegates from across the country for your sacrifice and patience, travelling all the way from your different destinations and waiting in inclement weather, as it has been raining all the day. Thank you for your commitment.

”The adoption of consensus as a first option is commendable and the process has led to a lot of healing and cohesion across the states and the zones, and where elections are inevitable, I have been assured that the process adopted will result in clear and undisputed results. Again I am appealing to all contestants to keep faith with the party.

”May I, therefore, appeal to all to put our great party ahead of personal considerations and to accept the outcome of the exercise in good faith. A Warri, Delta State-based fashion designer who designed the impressive and customized native attire worn by the Super Eagles to Russia for the World Cup has spoken out on why he is not being recognized.

Esimaje Awani, the Nigerian-Canadian fashion designer who produced the ‘Buba’ and ‘Sokoto’ worn by the Super Eagles to Russia for the 2018 World Cup, has expressed dissatisfaction for lack of credits for designing the outfits and for Nigerian media not celebrating his designs as they celebrated Nike’s jersey’s design.

The CEO of GT Stitches, who is the designer of the Super Eagles traditional wear that cemented their ‘Best Fashion Team’ award, specialises in making male and female caftans and his outfits has earned the Super Eagles rating as “The team with the best traveling uniform” in Russia by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

While speaking with Daily Sun, in a phone interview on Tuesday, Awani who is a Warri, Delta State-based designer and the maker of white outfit finished with green neck embroidery design for Super Eagles players said he feels under-appreciated by Nigerians.

He said: “It was actually a surprise when I saw the advert of the design on different blogs and newspapers even television stations without giving credits to me. If not for MITV that came to grant me interview on Saturday, nobody knew I was actually the designer of the Super Eagles’ dress”.

Expressing dissatisfaction over how low Nigerians rate Nigerian products, Awani said: “I think the problem we are having in this country is that we are having it very difficult to appreciate what is made in Nigeria.

“In Nigeria, we are engulfed with mentality of celebrating what is made abroad. The only reason Nike is having edge over Nigerians designs is because Nigerians prefer foreign products than local ones.

“If I were from America or UK, I would have been celebrated more than this. We need to start celebrating our own things and that is how we can industrialise our nation.

“Our local content is there as a law and the government has implemented it but what we need to do now is changing our behaviours and mindsets towards appreciating Nigerian goods”, he stated.

Speaking on what prompted his initiative to designed the dress, Awani said: “I’m a designer before now but Super Eagles’ design is borne out of love and passion for Nigeria because as a citizen of Nigeria, I have too much confidence in this country believing that only this country’s citizens that can move this country from point A to B.

“Immediately after the qualification of Super Eagles for World Cup competition, I think our last match with Algeria, as a designer, I felt it would be right for me to contribute my own quota to the entire project of going to Russia.

“That was then I sat down with my team and decided to create something that can actually enhance the confidence of our players.

“And at the same time to create jobs for Nigerian youths because the target of our company is to contribute our own quotas towards eradication of unemployment from Nigeria as well to establish our brand.

“So, this design was actually borne out of love and patriotism for Nigeria and that took me so much to create because it’s not a ready made design but created from the scratch”.

Awani, the designer of Super Eagles’ Aso Ebi attire that had earned the football team an international reputation also spoke on why Nigerians must patronise local made designs.

He said, “As local designers in Nigeria, we are putting in our best to see that we can create something that can compete with our international counterparts. But what you need to understand in fashion business is that, it is patronage that can place you on top other brands.

“So as I said earlier, our people need to cultivate mindset of appreciating our brands over international brands because we are doing well and you can agree with me that the kind of clothes we do have to do with our own culture and that is the most important thing.

“This is our culture and everything we do has connection with our culture especially in designing clothes in Nigeria and Africa generally,” Awani said.

Russia 3-1 Egypt: The Pharoahs lose again amid Salah return

Mo Salah failed to rescue the Egyptians as they lose 3-1 to Russia in the second game of their Group A World Cup campaign at Krestovsky Stadium on Tuesday.
Following many anticipations from fans, Mohamed Salah finally started against Russia after seating on the bench and watching Uraguay grab three points from the Pharaohs at the opener.
The first half of the game ended in goal barrenness until a second-half own goal by Ahmed Fathy at the 47th minute followed closely by Denis Cheryshev who netted at the 59th minute. Dzyuba made it three for Russia at the 62nd minute until Salah redeemed his name with a penalty inspired lone goal at the 73rd minute.
It was an entertaining 45 minutes at Krestovsky which ended in a goalless draw. Mohamed Salah didn't impress much as expected; the Premier League highest goal scorer had fewer touches than any other player in the game against Russia in the first half, 5. Russian midfielder Roman Zobnin made the most tackles in the first half, folwing his most tackles in the Saudi Arabia clash, 6.
Russia opened scoring 2 minutes into the second half, at the 47th minute precisely. Unfortunately for the Egyptian side, it was an own goal from Fathy which put the Russian side on the lead.
Denis Cheryshev netted the second goal for Russia at the 59th minute before Artem Dzyuba completed it three for the host nation to make it 3-0 on the scoreline. Salah was hauled down at the 71st minute, thanks to the VAR which came to the rescue after much confusion and a penalty was granted. Mo Salah slotted the penalty at the back of the net to get a tip close to Russia's three. The scoreline read 3-1 this point.
Russia grabbed their second win in their Group A World Cup campaign as Egypt suffered yet another loss despite Mo Salah's return at the showdown.

Chancellor of Eastern Mandate Union (EMU), Dr. Arthur Nwankwo, has declared that no amount of force could suppress the Biafra spirit and the urge for self-determination by people of the South East of Nigeria.

This is as Nwanwko lamented that the conditions that instigated the civil war between 1967 and 1970 are still as virulent as ever.

These are some of the issues contained in his just released book, entitled: “Nigeria and her Path to Doom.”

“It is the inability of the Nigerian state to come to a round table to renegotiate the basis for the existence of the country that has given birth to renewed agitations for self-determination.

“It is in this context that the Biafran agitation should be located. The Biafran agitation is a product of the failed state that Nigerian has become.

“Biafra has become a monumental phenomenon that cannot be silenced by force or ‘crushed’.
“It is a constant reminder to the Nigerian state that all is not well with the structural configuration of the country.

“The Biafran spirit cannot be quenched by the furious guns of hatred-Biafra lives.
“Nigeria must be restructured along the line of true federalism. The Biafran agitation is a call to this restructuring.

“This agitation is legitimate and in tune with international law on self-determination.

“The agitation is not different from the Scottish agitation in the United Kingdom; the Catalonia agitation in Spain, the Eritrean agitation in Ethiopia, the South-Sudan agitation in Sudan,” he said.

Taking a swipe at three years of President Buhari’s administration, Nwaknwo said the country needed a reconstructive surgeon who must perform a painful operation to extricate a painful ailment and not a bulldozer or robot.
“Buhari is not a constructive surgeon and, therefore, lacks the requisite credentials to perform Nigeria’s surgical operation,” Nwankwo said.

DWM boss Davido, was just questioned by a fan who wanted to know where the singer’s alleged private jet was after he revealed it was to land in Nigeria nearly a month ago.

Recall that Davido took to his snap nearly a month ago to reveal that he purchased a private jet specifically a Bombardier Challenger 605 which sells for approximately N9.7billion ($27m) for himself.

Now a fan showing concern has asked why the jet is not yet in Nigeria and Davido was quick to answer.

2019: Why I have never voted in my life – Omotola

Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has revealed that she has never voted or tried to in any of the country’s previous elections.

According to Mrs Ekeinde, her voter-apathy had to do with election violence.

The 40-year-old said this yesterday after collecting her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

Omotola took to Instagram to share that the violent nature that characterised elections in Nigeria was the reason she stayed away from polling units.

“Today (Thursday), I collected my PVC. I’ve never voted or tried to. It’s taken a lot to get here for me. As a kid, my mum beat me mercilessly for thinking of going near a voting point.

“There was violence and some neighbours died. Never broken out of that experience till today,” she wrote.

2019: Makarfi declares to run for Presidency election

Former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi has finally declared to run in the 2019 presidential election.

Makarfi, the immediate past Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, made the declaration at a press briefing in Kaduna on Sunday.

According to him, “After wide consultations with party men and women as well as other major stakeholders, I have decided to seek the party’s nomination to contest the poll.”

The two time Senator said he was now ready to pick the PDP nomination form ahead of the 2019 presidential election.

He becomes the second member of the PDP to make his intention public after former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Skales has revealed that he is inspired by Wizkid, Davido and every other Nigerian artiste doing great things and “putting the country on a different level”.

He said this during an in depth interview with #Afroboss DJ Edu of BBC on Wednesday, June 13.

His words:-

“Listening to musicians in other parts of the world gave me that exposure that I needed and made music more interesting to make.”

“Music is not all about making money for me, honestly, I do this for the love even though I have a team that has to eat so I have to be innovative with it. It’s very fun and inspiring because I am inspired by my own story.

“I was just chilling in London last year and I saw an Instagram post from Nicki Minaj and I was like wow.

“It’s not only me, I won’t take all the credit, I’ll have to big up everybody from Wizkid to David, people that have been putting the country on a different level, raising the bar high. I want to give a big shout out to them, they inspire us.”

On his forthcoming album, Skales said the album will no longer be released on June 22, adding that “we will hold it back for a week or two”.
