jesus admits injury fears after return

Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus has admitted he fears suffering another injury setback after a number of serious setbacks.

The Brazilian has only just returned from a knee injury which he suffered at Crystal Palace on New Year’s Eve, but having now returned to full fitness, he has admitted that he is not yet in the right frame of mind.

“When you are in the game you end up thinking about the previous game when you got injured,” he said.

“Without wanting it you have a bit of fear. I think I still played with some fear. There were some movements when I still have some fear of getting injured again.

“But, as you play more and more, you are going to see that fear leave and play your football. Physically, I'm feeling very well.' It was the second long-term problem Jesus has suffered since joining City. The 20-year-old broke his metatarsal weeks after his debut last season, missing two months.

He also revealed Brazil team-mate Neymar has asked for advice about dealing with the rehabilitation after suffering a falling victim to a similar injury last month.

“He sent me a message and asked about the problem,' Jesus added. 'I explained to him how I felt, how the recovery was. He has already had the operation, is recovering and is starting to walk again.”
