Man United: Why Sanchez has been eating alone at club base

The real reason Alexis Sanchez was seen eating alone at Manchester United has been explained by the club.

The Chilean who has cut an unhappy, isolated figure since his move from Arsenal two months ago has appeared to be a loner at Manchester United because of the extra training he has done in a bid to become an Old Trafford success, according to the Daily Star.

His form has been disappointing and he has been pictured dining alone in the canteen at United’s training complex. But the Daily Star Sunday can reveal that Sanchez has been eating alone because he is often last off the training ground.

A United source said: "There is an explanation for Sanchez eating alone at Carrington.

"He regularly does an extra 30 minutes working on free-kicks and shooting after the main session has finished up.

"By the time he has showered and changed, the majority of his team-mates have finished eating and gone."

Sanchez has scored only once in 10 United appearances since securing a deal which it is claimed can be worth up to £600k a week.
